Katarina Amelia Perez
ProQuest LLC, Ed.D. Dissertation, Grand Canyon University
The purpose of this quantitative correlational study was to determine if, or to what extent, a correlation existed between teachers' collaboration and the intrinsic, extrinsic, and general job satisfaction of K-12 teachers in the Southwestern United States. The sample of this studied consisted of 113 K-12 public school teachers, in Arizona, that have taught online within the last three years. Herzberg's two-factor theory provided the theoretical foundation of this study. The research questions that guided this study were: To what extent is there a correlation between teachers' collaboration and intrinsic job satisfaction? To what extent is there a correlation between teachers' collaboration and extrinsic job satisfaction? To what extent is there a correlation between teachers' collaboration and general job satisfaction? The Minnesota Satisfaction Questionnaire short-form (MSQ-sf) and the Index of Interdisciplinary Collaboration 42-item version (IIC-42) were utilized to collect the data used to address this study's research questions. Descriptive statistics and Pearson's Correlation were utilized to examine the correlation between the variables of this study. The results of this study demonstrated a statistically significant, strong positive correlation between teachers' collaboration and intrinsic job satisfaction, r (111) = 0.51, p < 0.001, extrinsic job satisfaction, r (111) = 0.51, p < 0.001, and general job satisfaction, r (111) = 0.55, p < 0.001. The findings of this study confirmed that teachers' collaboration is significantly correlated with intrinsic and extrinsic job satisfaction and may be leveraged by educational leaders to increase and maintain high levels of teachers' job satisfaction in remote work settings.
