Acceptability of Active Shooter Training and Student Policy Recommendations at an Institution of Higher Learning in the State of New Jersey
Timothy M. Luko
ProQuest LLC, Ph.D. Dissertation, Capella University
Identifying which active shooter training method, the students prefer to receive was the central focus of the research. Active shooter situations are on the rise and do occur on college and university campuses. Having a trained campus population, primarily a trained student body, can help save lives from such an active shooter event. However, student input for such trainings and acceptable approaches based off the students' perceptions are key. The interviews allowed for student thoughts and perspectives to flow and be documented by the researcher. The findings showed student support for active shooter response training and support for student in-put for university active shooter training policy development.
