Bonnie Gabriela Gallegos
ProQuest LLC, Ed.D. Dissertation, California State Polytechnic University, Pomona
This qualitative study on the experiences of Latina leaders in PK-12 educational settings reveals the significant impact of their community cultural wealth on leadership development and effectiveness. By integrating personal and professional narratives, in the form of "testimonios," with theoretical frameworks like LatCrit and Culturally Responsive Leadership, the research illustrates how these leaders harness their cultural assets to develop inclusive, equitable, and inspiring educational settings. The journey of Latina leaders, marked by resilience, advocacy, and a deep commitment to community engagement, not only contributes to the understanding of leadership dynamics in diverse educational settings, but also demonstrates the essential role of cultural capital in driving transformative educational practices. This study's insights into the unique challenges and successes faced by Latina leaders in education contribute significantly to the discourse on leadership diversity.
