Kathleen Petka
ProQuest LLC, Ph.D. Dissertation, Kennesaw State University
This research study is a qualitative action research study that examines the best ways to support the emotional needs of students as they matriculate through high school. Specifically for this study, high school educators who teach in the four academic content areas (English, Math, Science, and Social Studies classes) implemented Calming Corners, an emotional support resource and intervention tool, in their classrooms. The teachers who participated in this study were able to assess if Calming Corners had a positive impact on students in their classrooms and in their own instructional practices. This study examined if the use of Calming Corners aids in stress reduction of secondary students at a top performing school.
