An Examination of the Performance of Elementary Title I Schools over Five Years across the Regions of South Carolina
Darrell J. Cumbee
ProQuest LLC, Ed.D. Dissertation, South Carolina State University
This study examined the performance of Title I elementary schools in South Carolina from the 2017-2018 school year to the 2021-2022 school year. The academic performance of each Title I school in the study was evaluated by examining data from the South Carolina College and Career Ready Assessment (SC READY). It also investigated the effect of the region, school size, teacher years of experience, and the percentage of students in poverty on school performance. Findings from this study show that school size, region, teacher attendance, and student poverty rates significantly impact the performance of public elementary Title I schools in South Carolina.
