Experiential Learning and the Modern Classroom
Sarah Christine Armstrong Jones
ProQuest LLC, Ed.D. Dissertation, Concordia University Chicago
This phenomenological study on experiential learning, specifically studying abroad, examined the evolution of education in the United States, including the rise of standardized testing and the increased focus on whole child and democratic teaching and learning. The participants found a positive correlation between their study abroad experience and their readiness for future academic courses and careers. The implications of this study indicate a need to reevaluate teaching and learning to include experiential learning strategies to improve student success and development.
