Health Science Admissions Practices and Recruitment Strategies: A Mixed-Methods Examination of Multiple Allied Health, Graduate Level Programs
Dina Batlivala Tresselt
ProQuest LLC, Ph.D. Dissertation, Rush University
Using a mixed-methods approach, this research examines admissions practices and recruitment strategies within eight graduate-level, allied health sciences programs. The results highlight the characteristics of submitted, accepted, and matriculated students, and identifies, by program, if the recruitment strategies (e.g., marketing campaign commitments, admissions review processes, and scholarship allocations) analyzed are significantly related to enrollment. In addition, the results identify the impact of holistic review approaches on the probability of self-identified underrepresented minority applicants applying for admission, receiving an admission offer, and matriculating. The results also highlight faculty perceptions on the programmatic quantitative results, as well as the recruitment strategies. The findings vary by program but show the impact of marketing campaigns, admissions changes, and scholarship allocations.
