The research study aimed to determine if a career readiness training program can help college students identify their transferable skills, understand the competencies necessary for workplace success, and articulate those skills and competencies to potential employers. Managers who interviewed Paradise University students for jobs, expressed that the students were unable to identify or articulate their own applicable skills when asked. Therefore, it was determined by the managers that the students lacked the necessary competencies to effectively do the job. Using a Transferable Skills Scale pre and post-test, data was collected from college students at Paradise University for this action research study. Analysis of the data determined if a Career Readiness Training Program can provide students with opportunities to identify their transferable skills, understand career competencies, and articulate these components on a resume or during a job interview. Encompassing these understandings will, ultimately, help students serve their communities and demonstrate mastery of these skills and competencies during internship and job opportunities.
