Improving Primary Students' Writing by Combining Graphic Organizers with Mentor Texts
Latisha D. Robinson
ProQuest LLC, Ed.D. Dissertation, Wilmington University (Delaware)
Elementary students often struggle with their writing skills, particularly in the areas of focus and organization. These problems can make it difficult for teachers to find effective methods for improvement. This project will delve into some causes of this deficit and explore its consequences on academic performance and future educational outcomes. This DIP project proposes the combination of mentor texts and graphic organizers as tools to help students overcome this deficit. By incorporating these tools into their teaching strategies, educators can help students develop stronger writing skills and become better communicators.
