Mentoring and Developmental Readiness - The Role of the Executive Leader
Steven E. Horsley
ProQuest LLC, D.E.Lead. Dissertation, University of Charleston - Beckley
This study identified how executive leaders understand their mentoring program's role and its effects on culture and developmental readiness in early leadership development. Senior U.S. military and corporate executive leaders who participated in this study responded to their mentoring and developmental readiness views. The data gathered through an online survey examined three research objectives of this study. The objectives examined how to introduce mentoring in early leader development through the model, design, and implementation of a mentoring program while promoting a Cadet Corps' developmental readiness through mentoring and coaching. The study's results provide a proposed recommendation for implementing a mentoring program in a Polish military academy discussed through theoretical perspectives, practical applications based on actual events, and the inclusion of former and present-day military leader development. This study potentially informs executive leaders on mentoring as a learning relationship in early leader development as part of the Life Cycle Management Process.
