The Age of Quiet Quitting: An Examination of the Predictive Nature of Hope Related to the Job Engagement of Educators
Tia A. Albig
ProQuest LLC, Ed.D. Dissertation, Hofstra University
This study examined quiet quitting and the predictive nature of hope related to job engagement of educators. Research was conducted in a school district in the northeast United States. This quantitative study examined the correlation between job engagement and hope, to what extent hope predicted job engagement in education, and whether educator differences predicted hope and job engagement. Hope and job engagement scales were used to examine the goals, agency, and pathways of hope theory and cognitive, emotional, and physical job engagement. A convenience sample of 114 educators from the K-12 level participated in this study. The Qualtrics survey included an introduction, demographic questions, the 12-item Adult Hope Scale and the 18-item Job Engagement Scale. Positive correlations were found between hope agency and emotional and physical job engagement. Hope agency was the strongest predictor of physical job engagement. Results justify a more thorough investigation of hope and job engagement in a greater variety of school communities with a greater number of participants. Such communities include high needs and diversity. [The dissertation citations contained here are published with the permission of ProQuest LLC. Further reproduction is prohibited without permission.
