LaDinah C. Carter
ProQuest LLC, Ed.D.Ed.Lead. Dissertation, Southeastern Louisiana University
School systems nationwide have faced an increase in crises that may lead to disruptions in schooling (Meckler, 2022). Subsequently, recent disasters and crises highlight the need to better understand, anticipate, and prepare for future crisis events. Preparing for, responding to, and recovering from a crisis situation is essential in promoting the organizational resilience of school systems. The enabling structures at the school district level, including the behaviors and actions of departmental units when responding to a crisis, is critical. Some examples of school crises include acts of violence or safety threats, cybersecurity breaches, and natural disasters that require an emergency response from the community (Sokol et al., 2021). The Covid-19 global pandemic presented fundamental challenges to the way schools and communities operated (Muldoon, 2021). This study will leverage the global impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. So, while this is not a Covid-19 study, the Covid-19 crises was a phenomenon that had extensive repercussions worldwide. Thus, this study will provide insight a more complete understanding of the factors that foster resilience in the aftermath of a crisis.
