Employee job satisfaction is a major factor in employee retention and success. The Leadership team of any organization is key to the wellbeing of the organization and its employees. The purpose of this quantitative study is to investigate the relationship between leadership styles and leadership dispositions of supervisors and the impact on the satisfaction of the employees working for them. The emphasis is placed on employees working in higher education, specifically at community colleges in the state of Nebraska. This study is analyzing the impact of the leadership styles and leadership dispositional attitudes on the overall satisfaction of employees. The study examines two main questions: 1. Is there a difference in employee job satisfaction based upon the leadership style exhibited by the employee's supervisor? 2. Is there a relationship between the dispositional attitude of the supervisor and the satisfaction of an employee? A survey instrument was used to survey employees at five community colleges in Nebraska to determine their level of satisfaction in the workplace. A one-way analysis of variance was conducted to analyze the data. Therefore, this study showed a statistical significance in the impact of leadership style and leadership disposition, either positively or negatively, on employee satisfaction in the workplace.
