ProQuest LLC, D.B.A. Dissertation, Saint Leo University
This predictive correlational study examined to what extent a relationship exists between the emotional intelligence of the staff in the information technology department's productivity and end-user satisfaction, as well as the quality of work done by those departments. Three universities were sampled for emotional intelligence, work productivity, end-user satisfaction, and quality of work performed. These data were examined and statistically analyzed to determine the effect of emotional intelligence on these factors. The data revealed that there is a significant relationship between emotional intelligence and work productivity. The data also revealed a possible relationship between emotional intelligence and work quality. However, there were not enough data to support a conclusion. This study shows the need for emotional intelligence training to increase the productivity of workers. Furthermore, the research illustrates that the use of emotional intelligence by human resources departments to screen employees could be very beneficial. Further research is needed in this area with larger sample sizes. [The dissertation citations contained here are published with the permission of ProQuest LLC.
