School Counseling Site Supervision: A Grounded Theory Inquiry

This grounded theory qualitative study proposed developing a theoretical framework for under-standing the process in which school counseling site supervisors engage in providing site super-vision to master's level school counseling internship students. Seven school counselors participated in a semi-structured interview that explored their professional experiences that provide insight into how they provide clinical supervision along with an evaluation of what they considered to be significant tasks and responsibilities of the site supervisor. The conceptual model presented documents how participants engage in providing supervision which is impacted by the lack of site supervision training and education. Participants' perception of their preparation and practice of supervision seemed to both directly and indirectly impact the outcomes of supervision for internship students.
