Educational Technology Discontinuance: Development of an Instrument to Guide K through 12 Decision Making
Jason Brames
ProQuest LLC, Ph.D. Dissertation, Indiana State University
Educational technology (EdTech) hardware and software solutions are continually evaluated by decision makers to determine which should remain as part of their organization's educational technology portfolio and which should not. Often these decisions are based on factors or criteria that may or may not lead to effective continuity decisions. The impetus for this study was the gap in understanding which criteria and factors influence whether the use of an evaluated educational technology is continued or discontinued. Four primary factors were discovered and developed into an instrument from which the Educational Technology Continuity Index (ETCI) is derived. The ETCI serves as a measure to aid decision makers with EdTech continuity decisions. [The dissertation citations contained here are published with the permission of ProQuest LLC.
