Making a Difference: Undergraduate Students' Experience of Faith Integration
Jennifer McCurrach
ProQuest LLC, Ph.D. Dissertation, Regent University
The call for faith integration in academic programs related to human services such as counseling, psychology, and social work has grown in recent years as research continues to support the efficacy of introducing faith into therapy practices. Both Christian and secular human services programs are working to find the most effective and impactful way to integrate faith into their curriculum. This phenomenological study was constructed to understand the experience of faith integration among emerging adults in undergraduate human services programs at accredited faith-based universities. Based on the recurrent themes and experience, implications for educational institutions and human services programs such as counseling, psychology, and social work were discussed. Additionally, increasing faith competency as part of a multicultural approach to mental health was also addressed.
