ProQuest LLC, Ed.D. Dissertation, Wilmington University (Delaware)
Researchers in higher education have identified time management as an important factor in student academic performance and in retention (Ahmed et al., 2019). Previous research has primarily focused on establishing the connection between time management skills and student persistence and identifying time management concepts that academically benefit higher education students. The body literature provides general information, but each higher education institution's unique student population requires more personalized research and resources. The purpose of this study was to identify institutional needs for a time-management seminar at a Mid-Atlantic University. The researcher collected qualitative data through individual interviews and a focus group to understand stakeholders' needs. Using the thematic analysis process, the researcher identified staff and student needs and appropriate time management components to address those needs. This study resulted in the preliminary development of a time management webinar as well as additional recommendations for the institution. This research reveals essential information despite the limitations and provides recommendations for future research.
