Purpose: The military medic/paramedic population has desired to seek further education in healthcare with a program that provides earned credit for their prior learning and experiences. The population specifically wants to become a registered nurse (RN). As the nursing shortage continues, these military medics and paramedics are an untapped resource that can be added to the workforce as they become entry into practice RNs. Therefore, the military medic/paramedic concentration within the ASN degree program was developed at a state university. Procedure: The development, implementation, and evaluation of the military medic/paramedic concentration within the ASN degree program was envisioned. The program development began with a needs assessment, SWOT analysis, literature review, and google searches. The curriculum, program outcomes, and policies were developed. The first cohort entered the concentration in Fall 2019. Results: A retrospective review of student records, the university databases, the ATI database, and student surveys revealed the military medic/paramedic concentration within the ASN program met the educational program development and DNP project outcomes. Conclusions: The development of the military medic/paramedic concentration within the ASN degree program provided a seamless educational opportunity and provided upward educational mobility for the military medic and paramedic. The military medic/paramedic concentration within the ASN degree program supplied entry into practice RNs to the workforce.
