Application of an Organizational Development Intervention: An Improvement Framework for Employee Engagement
Kelley L. Eddington Magana
ProQuest LLC, Ed.D. Dissertation, Barry University
Organizations around the globe are struggling to engage and retain employees. Moreover, higher education institutions across the United States face challenges in the quest for student recruitment and retention strategies. A university in the Southeastern portion of the United States ("the University") has experienced a decline in student enrollment and continuous weakening in employee engagement, making it critical to develop and implement an intervention to improve the employee experience and satisfaction. As a result, the scholar practitioner explored the performance gaps hindering the University and chose a viable solution for improvement known as the Feedforward Interview (FFI) protocol to boost employee engagement. A mixed methods approach was applied to understand the theoretical and practical implications of the FFI program. Although a return on investment (ROI) was not realized, participant perspectives revealed positive influences of the intervention on staff members' motivation and performance.
