Supporting Youth during Reentry: A Training Resource for School Faculty
Elizabeth Avery
ProQuest LLC, Ph.D. Dissertation, Regent University
There is currently a complicated paradox with the growing trend of psychiatric hospitalizations and placements for youth and school faculty indicating the need for increased education in supporting youth during reentry post out-of-home placement (CDC, 2022; Bohnenkamp et al., 2019). Most out-of-home placements occur while school is in session meaning that youth will transition back into an academic environment (Preyde et al., 2018). This emphasizes the need to better prepare school faculty to effectively support the social, academic, and emotional needs of youth during reentry. The "Supporting Youth During Reentry" training provides foundational information for school faculty to transition plan and support youth more effectively during reintegration into school settings.
