ProQuest LLC, Ed.D. Dissertation, Lipscomb University
The purpose of this mixed-methods research was to understand the benefits of a professional coaching program in higher education and its impact on faculty resilience and well-being. Participants in this study included faculty members who had been enrolled in a higher education faculty coaching program for two years, for one year, and faculty who did not participate in the higher education faculty coaching program. Data were measured from May 2021 to May 2023. Researchers obtained quantitative data collected by the Center for Teaching and Learning at a faith-based university in the southeast using an adapted version of the Teacher Resilience Scale (TRS) and PERMA-Profiler. The research team also created interview questions and used it to collect qualitative data from participants. The findings did not support the researchers' hypotheses, except for "spiritual influences" and "personal competencies"; however, the qualitative portion of the study did reveal that participants felt the coaching program was beneficial to their resilience and well-being.
