Value of Continued Clinical Practice for Counselor Educators Teaching at CACREP Accredited Programs: A Delphi Study
Tessa Breann Price
ProQuest LLC, Ph.D. Dissertation, Idaho State University
Counselor educators (CEs) are educators as well as dually trained counselors. Some CEs engage in continued clinical practice while working as tenured or tenure-track professors. I sought to understand the value of continued clinical practice for CEs to understand how clinical practice impacts teaching. Nine expert panelists were selected to participate in a Real-Time Delphi (RTD) study. Consensus between experts was derived using an interpolated median (IM) and interquartile range (IR). 31 out of 45 items reached consensus. Items reaching consensus were further analyzed to identify themes. Implications of these findings, interpretation of the results, and ideas for future research were also discussed.
