The purpose of this phenomenological qualitative study was to better understand the spiritual care experience and describe perceptions about how spiritual care received via a campus minister impacts spiritual well-being for undergraduates at an urban, Midwestern Catholic university. To explore this question, five undergraduate students participated in individual interviews and shared their experiences with and perceptions of the spiritual care they received at their institution. The researcher used a hermeneutic approach to analyze interview transcriptions and evaluate data for themes. Two themes emerged as a result of the study: isolation and negative emotions increase undergraduate spiritual distress, and meeting social and relational needs increase spiritual well-being.
