Fagbeyiro, Benedict O.
ProQuest LLC, Ed.D. Dissertation, Virginia State University
The purpose of this quantitative study was to evaluate the effectiveness of the LearnEd Notebook curriculum when used with two groups of eighth-grade African American male students in teaching science. More specifically, the researcher sought to determine if there was a correlation between the utilization of the LearnEd Notebook Science curriculum and student performance on the North Carolina EOG Science examination. This study sought to construct support for the use of the LearnEd Notebook Science curriculum by answering the following research questions: "RQ1 (Descriptive):" What will be the EOG outcomes of 8th grade African American male middle school students attending school G, whose instruction included the LearnEd Notebook Science curriculum? "RQ2 (Descriptive):" What will be the EOG outcomes of 8th grade African American male middle school students attending school C, whose instruction did not include the LearnEd Notebook Science curriculum? "RQ3 (Comparative):" Was there a statistical difference in the performance outcomes of 8th grade African American male middle school students whose instruction included the LearnEd Notebook Science curriculum to other similar 8th grade African American male middle school students whose instruction did not include the LearnEd Notebook Science curriculum?
