Arriving at the Everyday: Building the NUWPArc Public Digital Writing Program Archive
Oddis, Kyle
ProQuest LLC, Ph.D. Dissertation, Northeastern University
This dissertation lays out conceptual foundations for building a public digital writing program archive, engages in conceptual modeling atop these foundations, then describes a tripartite platform structure for creating a digital resource that can make use of a writing program's everyday materials. This dissertation does not view its objects of study through an overly idealistic lens. Instead, it presents the Northeastern University Public Digital Writing Program Archive Project (NUWPArc) and its collection as an opportunity for exploring additional forms of disciplinary doing in writing program administration and writing studies. This dissertation attends to the potential (and potential consequences) of providing access to the everydayness of a writing program--everydayness that has historically been inaccessible beyond the situated context of an institutional writing program community. This dissertation argues in part that the values, beliefs, goals, and practices that characterize a writing program are evidenced in its everyday documents and that, by not only collecting these documents but by making them available for public engagement, we can generate new forms of knowledge and knowledge-making in writing studies. In other words, this project is grounded in the belief that the everyday documents of a writing program matter.
