Social Capital and Its Effects on Tyro Leaders in Educational Settings
Ballow, Micha Blanchard
ProQuest LLC, Ed.D. Dissertation, Southeastern Louisiana University
The inner-workings of an organization are deep rooted in trust, obligations, expectations, information channels, norms, and effective sanctions. These aspects are results of the various dimensions of social capital at play in an organization. Social capital can be explained as the connections or resources that organizational members use to attain goals they couldn't have reached before. Understanding the functions of these aspects allows administrators in educational settings to increase effectiveness in their faculty and staff. Focusing specifically on Tyro Leaders, informal leaders with a master's degree and five years of experience, the author hopes to uncover which aspects of social capital are valued most by Tyro leaders. Findings from this proposed study will provide the necessary tools that administrators need to begin to provide support for upcoming educational leaders.
