Reigniting Hope: Christian Character Development in Select English-Speaking Private Schools in Conakry, Guinea

Character development is part of the educational process. The current literature examining the cultural influences and educational strategies that have an impact on character development has shown certain gaps, particularly in the context of Guinea, West Africa. These include the lack of a framework and model for character development from this context. Since there are no models or frameworks for character development in the contextual setting of private English-speaking Christian schools in Conakry, research was carried out to address these gaps. The research findings include definitions of character development, traits, strategies, and influences that are relevant to this unique setting. A multidimensional analysis of these findings initiated the construction of the comprehensive contextual model. The model integrates the findings and demonstrates a contextually relevant comprehensive model for character development and the potential impact of cultural influences and educational strategies on that development. After revealing this model, I take account of the work of Hope Ignited, the potential role of this organization, and their use of the model in the development of character in Christian private schools in Conakry, Guinea. This included a pilot project and the details for an implementation plan for future projects in Christian education based on the findings.
