AERA Online Paper Repository, Paper presented at the Annual Meeting of the American Educational Research Association (Chicago, IL, Apr 13-16, 2023 and Virtual, May 4-5, 2023)
The AIM process is a strategic planning process for school districts to create Comprehensive Health and Wellness Plans (CHWPs) aligned with the Whole School, Whole Community, Whole Child model. The purpose of this study is to describe results of this process as it was implemented with 21 rural school districts. An 81-item survey was completed by 236 participants at the end of the AIM process. Survey results indicate that 1) the benefits of participating in AIM were more pronounced than challenges, 2) task force members had high satisfaction with the AIM process, and 3) the presence of key characteristics of AIM were variable. The most common health problems and practices selected for inclusion in CHWPs are also enumerated.
