ProQuest LLC, Ed.D. Dissertation, Delaware State University
This study was aimed to explore systemic educational equity, educational policies, equity determinants, and equity leadership as they affect performance excellence at Chinese higher education institutions. 4 research questions were developed from this research topic. A qualitative case study analysis methodology was applied. An interpretative case study analysis to three selected case studies was utilized as the major tool to this study. The study involved gathering data from the three selected case studies as secondary data. This study followed Creswell's (2003) procedure to data analysis and interpretation. NVivo 12 was applied during this process to identify themes exploring systemic educational equity, educational policies, equity determinants, and equity leadership as they affect performance excellence at Chinese higher education institutions. 5 themes were emerged from the data include: (a) Educational equity(access and opportunity); (b) Cultural values; (c) Policy perspective&its implementation; (d) Economic status affecting educational equity; (e) Equity leadership for students achievement. The themes were emerged from the three selected case studies and generated from the research questions of this study. By analyzing the secondary data and emerged themes, the author found the potential and appropriate answers to the research questions. The analysis of the study found similar answers to the research questions regarding economic factors, which are the most important affecting factors impacting educational equity.
