This qualitative case study examines the physical activity, mental wellness, and academic performance of five second-year college students. The study determined if physical activities' impact on mental wellness would play a role on academic outcomes for the second-year college students. A series of three interviews took place to obtain descriptive data on the students' physical activity, mental wellness, and the impact both physical activity and mental wellness played on their academic performance. The interviews occurred during the beginning, middle, and end of the spring academic semester. Physical activity was considered any activity that improved the function of the body was chosen by each participant and performed at least once per week. The research generated many results based on the qualitative data obtained: (1) second-year college students have stressors that relate to the literature and include sickness and possible sickness during the COVID-19 pandemic, transferring schools, finances, academics, and school-related activities (sorority and sports); (2) students' explanations to not participate in physical activity reflect their lack of knowledge on the importance and positive factors physical activity can have on mental wellness and academic performance; (3) students who start to participate in physical activity find connectivity between the activity and improved mental wellness; and (4) students who participate in physical activity and improve their mental wellness from the activity find increased academic performance.
