Exploring the Impact of COVID-19 on Student and Faculty Resilience
Gardner, Kimberly
ProQuest LLC, Ed.D. Dissertation, Alliant International University
The purpose of this study was to explore the impact COVID-19 had on the student and faculty resilience. This study focused on the resilience of participants to overcome obstacles to learning, financial planning and maintaining a strong sense of belonging. A sense of belonging is an important variable because it is linked to feelings, values, acceptance, and trust. Persons in the learning community with higher senses of belonging tend to be more motivated, engaged and have higher confidence and performance outcomes. The research sought to explore the effect COVID-19 had on community members' resilience when faced with barriers to learning. The goal was to analyze feelings and attitudes to determine whether disruption to learning caused by COVID-19 had a significant impact on participant's resilience. As universities strive to attract and retain students, a focus on how disruptions from prolonged campus closures impact the campus community is critical to understating the relationship between campus climate, persistence, and satisfaction.
