Undergraduate Student Leadership Reflections in an Academic Innovation Center
Saludo, Rienne G.
ProQuest LLC, Ph.D. Dissertation, The Florida State University
Academic innovation centers (AICs) are a new phenomenon that are being invested in by higher education institutions. As they are a new type of information center, Library and Information Science (LIS) researchers can revisit past LIS approaches in this new setting. Surveys of these centers have been investigated for their service offerings creating a nascent method of characterization. This LIS research explores this new research setting through the lens of the undergraduate student worker using narrative analysis methods. The library undergraduate worker has a limited depth of study within LIS research. This exploratory research repositions student workers' agency to an elevated level for the understanding and development of academic innovation centers. These findings represent often silent voices of information center partnerships that bring added value to the higher education experience. This research highlights the developing perspective of undergraduate pre-professional leadership activities along with the theoretical basis of Constructionism Leadership.
