Feeling Remote? An Examination of the Relationship between Communication and Employee Engagement in Higher Education
Henley, Rhyanne Douberley
ProQuest LLC, Ed.D. Dissertation, Trevecca Nazarene University
This study investigated the relationship between communication satisfaction and employee engagement among remote higher education enrollment counselors. Quantitative methodology implemented through survey research was used to gather data from employees at member schools in the Christian Adult Higher Education Association (CAHEA), which included universities and colleges throughout the United States. The data identified communication practices related to employee engagement by assessing the relationship between the effects of communication on remote enrollment counselor satisfaction and employee engagement. The factors of communication in the study included satisfaction with university leadership communication, performance feedback, supervisor communication, and colleague communication. Engagement levels, including three subfactors of vigor, dedication, and absorption, were found to correlate with all four factors of communication satisfaction.
