The Role of Women Empowerment in Societal Development in the Northeast Region of Nigeria

The study investigated the role of women empowerment on societal development in the North East region of Nigeria. Three research questions and hypotheses were used. The population of the study comprised of women within the age bracket of (30-40 years). Purposive and stratified random sampling technique was adopted, and a sample size of 600 women was used. A self structured questionnaire titled Women Empowerment and Societal Development (WEASDQ) was used. A reliability estimate of 0.82 was obtained using split half method. Pearson Product Moment Correlation Statistics was used for data analysis. It was recommended that governmental and non-governmental organizations should ensure comprehensive training of women to enable them contribute to the development of the society.
