Golkin-Moro, Pamela
ProQuest LLC, Ed.D. Dissertation, St. John's University (New York), School of Education and Human Services
A 32-item survey was developed to measure Faculty Satisfaction with Institutional Policies regarding Online Learning (FSIPOL). The survey assessed five factors identified through a literature review. These five factors identified included: (1) Compensation, (2) Time Requirements, (3) Professional Development, (4) Administrative Support for Online Course Design and Delivery, and (5) Technical Support Infrastructure. A convenient sample population of 67 undergraduate and graduate faculty members who have taught at least one online course during the period of spring 2015 to fall 2017 were surveyed at a large private university in a metropolitan area. The goal in creating this survey was to provide administrators with a tool for collecting faculty feedback in order to evaluate and revise policies and procedures for developing and implementing online instruction. Based on reliability statistics analysis Cronbach's Alpha, results indicated that the survey, with 22 items related to the five factors model, had a reliability that was significant (.764). With the continued need for quality assurance, accreditation, and institutional benchmarks, the significance of this study was to provide data toward improving the quality of education and the resources for faculty to effectively teach online.
