Five Things Student Affairs Professionals Can Do to Support Latinx/a/o Students in Community Colleges. NASPA Research and Policy Institute Brief
Hernández, Ignacio; Hernández, Susana; de la Teja, Magdalena H.
NASPA - Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education
This brief discusses five strategies to support the success of Latinx/a/o students in community colleges. It is designed for student affairs educators--including staff, faculty, and administrators--to guide their approach for serving the needs of this population. The brief may also serve as a resource for professionals at baccalaureate-granting institutions who work with students who have transferred from community colleges. The ideas offered are distilled from analyses of the research literature as well as the experiences of the authors' time in higher education, both as students and as professionals.
