Teacher Concerns and Levels of Technology Use in the Absence of Sustained Professional Development
Weaver, Carmen
AERA Online Paper Repository, Paper presented at the Annual Meeting of the American Educational Research Association (Washington, DC, Apr 8-12, 2016)
The administration of a high school made the decision to transition to a "school of the 21st century". This transition includes one-to-one mobile computing devices for all faculty and students, ubiquitous Internet access, and the use of open educational resources (OER) to replace textbooks. At the time of this phase in this longitudinal study, the one-to-one and OER initiative has been in place in the school for two years. The purpose of this mixed methods study was to examine teachers' concerns about a school's technology initiative two years after implementation. It also served to gauge the teachers' technology use as prescribed by the initiative. The results of this study have implications for legislators, K-12 administrators, technology coordinators, and teachers.
