Child Sexual Assault, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and the Impact They Have on Education
Driscoll, John
ProQuest LLC, Ed.D. Dissertation, Wilmington University (Delaware)
This paper is an auto-ethnographic dissertation about the impact Child Sexual Abuse (CSA) has on its victims. This dissertation discusses the problems that are presented to a CSA victim, such as: possible impact on the victim's academic success, physical health, development, and psychological disorders- in particular, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). This dissertation will follow an autoethnographic format guided by the style of Carolyn Ellis. It will take the author's firsthand experiences with CSA and PTSD and combine that with multiple scholarly works on the subjects. Finally, it will show the importance of medical and/or psychological intervention. These interventions show a significant impact on increasing the likelihood for the victim's success in academia, health, and overall quality of life.
