International Student Engagement: Best Practices for Support and Integration
Moua-Vue, May Lee
ProQuest LLC, Ed.D. Dissertation, Northern Kentucky University
International students face a variety of obstacles and challenges in order to study in the US. The researcher interviewed 11 participants and held a focus group to understand and uncover new findings about the international student experience at a medium-sized institution in the mid-west. This grounded theory action research study resulted in a framework to guide the institution for best practices to support, engage, and help international students adjust to their new environment. Although the findings are not generalizable, the knowledge can be transferable to other institutions for better understanding of the international student experience and guide international educators in best practices for support and integration of international students at their institutions.
