First-generation female students in community colleges are dropping out and withdrawing from college at an alarming rate. There are women who are administrators and leaders in these institutions who were once first-generation college students. The research gleaned first-hand experiences from participants who were first-generation females. These participants are currently community college administrators who shared recommendations to assist in the retention of first-generation females in community colleges. From the results of the study, it was recommended by the participants that financial aid literacy, support groups, and mentoring may assist first-generation female students in community colleges to persist and receive a college degree. This population of students is faced with challenges and barriers that hinder them from achieving their academic goals. These women shared information on their experiences as students and how they persevered to become successful in their fields. A qualitative research method that included personal interviews to gather information was used in this study.
