The Impact of Student Engagement on Alumni Giving
Golz, Carolyn
ProQuest LLC, Ph.D. Dissertation, The Chicago School of Professional Psychology
As government funding of higher education decreases, colleges and universities rely more and more on alumni donations to cover operating expenses and financial aid for students. Previous research has primarily focused on the demographic characteristics of alumni who donate, but educational leaders need a better understanding of alumni motivations to donate so that they can more effectively increase alumni giving. Previous research has demonstrated that student involvement and satisfaction with the student experience are related to alumni giving. Student involvement and satisfaction are components of student engagement. Thus, student engagement, as measured by the National Survey of Student Engagement, may also be related to alumni giving. This dissertation explores the relationship between alumni giving and student engagement. [The dissertation citations contained here are published with the permission of ProQuest LLC.
