Shirley, Gregory E., II
ProQuest LLC, Ed.D. Dissertation, Texas A&M University - Commerce
The purpose of this dissertation was to compare the perceived impact of federal financial aid on the decisions of college-aged African American and Hispanic males to attend college. Participants in the study were delimited to XYZ University, a regional university in Northeast Texas. A modified version of the College Experience Survey, originally created by Solberg, O'Brien, Villarreal, Kennel, and Davis (1993) was utilized to ascertain the perceptions analyzed in this study. A two-tailed bivariate correlational research design was employed to simultaneously examine differences and relationship based on ethnicity, ages, and classification. Findings identified higher levels of perceived importance regarding the availability of financial aid advising for researching financial aid sources and the completion of required forms for Hispanic college-aged males. No differences were identified by age or classification. [The dissertation citations contained here are published with the permission of ProQuest LLC.
