Conflict Boot Camp: An Evaluation of an Intervention for High Conflict Parents in Dependency Court
Francev, Sarah B.
ProQuest LLC, Ed.D. Dissertation, California State University, Los Angeles
This research evaluates the effectiveness and curricular quality of the Conflict Boot Camp Program. Conflict Boot Camp is a no-cost, court-mandated intervention program for high conflict parents and caretakers involved in a dependency court in the greater Los Angeles area. This program evaluation utilizes qualitative methods and triangulates findings from participant surveys, curriculum documents and interviews with judiciary professionals. Five overlapping themes emerged: interactions, empowerment through access to knowledge and strategies, children's needs, and direct application and behavior change. Perspectives from program participants and judicial professionals represented in this study provide valuable information for program quality and future research concerning court-based interventions for parents experiencing high levels of conflict.
