Of this number, 119 institutions are under public control and 661 under private control. One hundred and sixteen are independent professional schools. There are 121 schools of theology, 117 schools of law, 80 schools of medicine, 44 schools of dentistry, 60 schools of pharmacy, and 16 schools of veterinary medicine.
