Alberta Advanced Education and Technology
The graduate of the Hairstylist apprenticeship program is a certified journeyperson who will be able to perform the following tasks: (1) haircutting; (2) chemical texturing, chemical relaxing; (3) hair colouring; (4) eyebrow and eyelash treatment; (5) facial services for hairstyling purposes (moustaches and beards); (6) wigs and hair additions; (7) hair and scalp shampooing, treatments and massage; (8) wet to dry styling; and (9) perform assigned tasks in accordance with quality and production standards required by industry. Requirements for certification--including the content and delivery of technical training--are developed and updated by the Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training Board on the recommendation of Hairstylist Provincial Apprenticeship Committee. This course outline contains the following sections: (1) First Period Technical Training; and (2) Second Period Technical Training.
