While a majority of charter schools nationwide operate in urban and suburban areas, charter schools exist in all corners of the nation, and are expanding into all types of communities. This "Details from the Dashboard" report presents statistics on the number of charter schools and students enrolled in charter schools by the four geographic regions that are defined by the National Center for Education Statistics' Common Core of Data: urban, suburban, towns and rural areas.
