Human patient simulation, and more specifically, high fidelity patient simulation is a growing teaching technique that enables students in medical and health related professions to learn through interacting with a simulator. This study examined the uses of high fidelity simulation with 106 students enrolled in nursing and respiratory therapist programs in a large Community and Technical College in a Midwestern state. Interactions were examined to determine if human patient simulation produced learning outcomes. Descriptive statistics were used to measure Student Satisfaction, Student Confidence, Experiential Learning, Learning Outcomes, and Debriefing. This study affirmed that high fidelity simulation led to the attainment of learning outcomes as a direct result of interacting with the human patient simulator. Additionally, the study statistically validated such pedagogical factors as student learning and satisfaction, student self-confidence, experiential learning, and debriefing are common and quantifiable in a human patient simulation classroom.
