State-By-State Profile of Community Colleges: Trends and Statistics. 7th Edition
D'Errico, Deanna, Ed.
Community College Press (NJ3)
The "State-By-State Profile of Community Colleges," 7th edition, presents an overview of trends and statistics pertaining to community colleges. The charts in the first section of the book offer a national view of populations served, tuition and revenue data, popular degrees, and career fields. The state-by-state section provides detailed information on each of the 50 states. There is insufficient data to report for the Pacific Islands and Puerto Rico, and the District of Columbia has no community colleges. For each profile, a narrative, based on interviews with community college representatives at the state offices, summarizes prominent issues. Following each narrative are detailed statistics on student characteristics, tuition, faculty salaries, educational attainment, state demographics, and workforce-related issues of importance to community college leaders. The book contains a preface, national view and 15 state-by-state sections: (1) Number of Community Colleges: 2006; (2) Location of Community Colleges: 2006; (3) Median Household Income for a Family of Four: 2005; (4) Percentage of Population 18 and Older Served by a Community College: 2003-2004; (5) Projected Number of High School Graduates: 2003-2014; (6) Percentage Distribution of 1988 Eighth Graders, by High School Completion Status and Race/Ethnicity: 2000; (7) Percentage of Population 25 and Older Who Completed High School or Earned a Bachelor's Degree: 2005; (8) Educational Attainment of People 25 and Older, by Citizenship, Nativity, and Period of Entry: 2005; (9) Highest Educational Attainment of People 25 and Older: 1995-2005; (10) 2004 Earnings of People 18 and Older by Educational Attainment, Race/Ethnicity, and Gender: 2005; (11) Mean Earnings of Workers 18 and Older, by Highest Level of Educational Attainment: 1994-2002; (12) Community College Fields of Study with the Most Associate Degrees or Certificates Awarded: 2004-2005; (13) Ten Fastest-Growing Occupations Projected: 2004-2014; (14) Ten Occupations with the Greatest Growth Projected: 2004-2014; and (15) Ten Occupations with the Greatest Declines Projected: 2004-2014.
