This publication, presented in pocket guide format, contains data from 2007 vocational education and training (VET) statistics collections. It includes key data on students and courses, apprentices and trainees training activity, graduates, the financial operations of the VET system, and employers' use and views of the VET system. Among the highlights: (1) There were 1.67 million students enrolled in the public VET system in 2007; (2) Around one in nine people aged 15 to 64 years participated in the publicly funded VET system in Australia in 2007; (3) The number of apprentices and trainees in-training as at 31 December 2007 was 405,500; (4) 89.2% of graduates were employed or in further study approximately six months after their training in 2007; and (5) Total operating expenditures in Australia's public VET system was $5490.6 million in 2006.
